The Beast
The course fights back. First to the kill wins.
Good scores hurt it.
Every team races to slay the same Beast. Every player’s net score, every hole, lands on it.
Net, off 95% of handicap, so the 27 hurts it as much as the 6. A bad hole heals it: a blow-up costs no more than a bogey.
Six moves. Posted.
The Beast moves on six holes, the same for every team, posted before anyone tees off.
Light one up.
Three times a round, the leader ignites one player: their result on the hole counts double.
- Both ways: a birdie hits for four, a bogey heals two.
- A different player each time. Pick who gets a stroke, and where the Beast is weakest.
- No second guessing: called on the hole before. It locks as that hole’s last score goes in.
Foursomes to sixteen.
One Beast for a foursome, or for a team of four squads.
- Your average: a team of 16 hits like a foursome, so size is no advantage.
- The swing kept: a big team’s good and bad holes count bigger, so it races like one.
- A threesome to make it fit: no rule changes. Teams drawn even on handicap.
Nobody knows who’s close.
Your phone shows your own Beast, and only yours: no numbers, just the monster cooling to stone as you hit it.
At the reveal the clubhouse TV runs the race hole by hole, every Beast falling at once, every kill stamped as it lands.
Lead the Hunters.
Their cards are in. You call the three Ignites, a hole at a time, and the real Beast engine plays it out. The Sharks slew theirs on their 15th. Can you get there first?
